How to clean Vanity Surfaces
Metal to marble, porcelain to plastic, here are some tips on keeping your Vanity spotless.
Porcelain
- clean with non-abrasive cleaners to avoid
scrubbing away the protective glaze on the sink.
- for spots, cut a lemon in half and rub it directly on the stain. Let sit,
checking every 10 minutes to see if it has faded. Rinse.
- stubborn stains may require liquid bleach, or a non-abrasive cleanser
containing bleach.
- pour vinegar directly in the sink and scrub to restore the shine to the remaining
protective coating.
- add 1 tablespoon of ammonia to 1 gallon hot water, scrub, rinse thoroughly.
- mix 1 cup Borax and 1/4 cup lemon juice, rub into stain with a cloth, rinse
with warm water.
Stainless Steel
- sprinkle with baking soda, rubbing in the direction of the grain with a moist cloth. For chrome fixtures, sprinkle baking
soda onto a damp sponge, rub over the chrome. Let sit for an hour and wipe off
with warm water, dry with clean cloth.
- mix 1 cup Borax and 1/4 cup lemon juice, rub into stain with a cloth, rinse
with warm water.
- sprinkle flour on surface, buff with a clean dry cloth to restore shine.
- smear non-gel toothpaste on surface and polish with a clean dry cloth.
Marble
- mix baking soda with shampoo or liquid detergent, wipe on, scrub gently with a sponge, rinse off.
